Misty Iron Leggins


Misty Dawn Iron Leggins, 46, of Poplar died Nov. 14, 2022. She was born Nov. 10, 1976, to Jsames and Clarice Iron Leggins in Poplar. Her parents died when she was really young, so her aunt and uncle Phillip and Pauline Granbois raised her. She attended Poplar Schools and graduated in 1996. She grew up with close friends she called sisters She attended Fort Peck Community College and was employed at Nancy’s Housekeeping. She married Joseph Savior Sr. on July 7, 2007. They later divorced. She is survived by her children, Gage Iron Leggins, Joseph Savior Jr., Precious Savior, Cherish Savior, Mystical iron Leggins and Stormy Medicine Elk; and three grandchildren, Adrian, Royal and Abel; brothers, Mike Longtree and Charles Longtree. She was preceded in death by her sister, Claren Longtree. Funeral services were held Tuesday, Nov. 22, at the Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Poplar. Interment was at St. Ann’s Cemetery. Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel was entrusted with arrangements.

Georell Kay Red Eagle, 59, of Poplar died Sunday, Nov. 13, 2022, at her home. She was born on Oct. 21, 1963, to Gary and Georgia Red Eagle in Madison, Wis. She carries the Indian name Dakota Win (Sioux Woman). She was Badlands Jr. Princess in 1974 and Fort Kipp Celebration Princess in 1978 where her father, uncles and brothers were members of the original Fort Peck Sioux Singers. She attended schools in Brockton and Poplar. Her daughter Dorell Leemae Blackthunder was born when she was 24, followed by another daughter Donelle Sioux Blackthunder in 1991 and, in 1992, son Doyle Travis (Boonz) Blackthunder was born. She also took on the role of a mother figure to many nieces and nephews. She worked at A& S Industries and had many roles she filled there in her time of employment. She was also employed at Poplar Hospital in housekeeping for six years and later as a live-in healthcare worker. Later in life, she took on the best job ever and that was caring for her grandchildren. She enjoyed going to bingo, cruising with her forever companion Terry and her grandchildren. She also enjoyed just being around family and friends, reminiscing about old times. She had an amazing memory of friends and families’ birthdays. She is survived by her adopted mother, Janice Hamilton, and adopted father, Rusty Denny, both of Poplar; companion of many years, Terry Eagle Boy of Poplar; brother, Gerred Red Eagle of Poplar; children, Dorell, Donelle and Doyle Blackthunder all of Poplar; adopted daughter, Terrace Little Chief of Canada; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; adopted sisters, Maureen Dionne, Connie Jones, Mary Plante, Chrystal Lambert, Lelanda Roberts, Ophie Crazybull, Dreamis EagleBoy of Poplar, Thomasine Hamilton of Taos, N.M.; and adopted brother, Brian Jones of Poplar. She was preceded in death by brothers, Gary Red Eagle, Geoffrey Red Eagle, Harold Red Eagle and George Red Eagle; sister, Genine Red Eagle; and grandson, Cameron Black Dog. Funeral services were held Wednesday, Nov. 23, at 11 a.m. at the Poplar Cultural Center. Interment was at Box Elder Cemetery. Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel was entrusted with arrangements.

Clifford Gangstad

Clifford Gangstad


Clifford T. Gangstad, 100, of Billings died Nov. 6, 2022. He was born Aug 31, 1922, on the family homestead near Froid. He was predeceased by his daughter, Lila Gangstad (Peterson); and his wife, Amelia Gangstad (Dorsey). He is survived by his children, Perry Gangstad, Susan Gangstad and Terry Gangstad; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at Atonement Lutheran Church in Billings on Nov. 12. Internment was at Sunset Memorial Garden Cemetery in Billings.

James Dillon


James “Jim D” Wilbur Dillon, 67, of Brockton died Nov. 8, 2022. He was born in Boulder, Colo., Jan. 22, 1955, to Charles and Jean Dillon. He spent his childhood in Victor. He moved to Concrete, Wash., in high school and graduated there. He attended Eastern Washington University and earned a bachelor’s degree in education. Later in life, he continued his education at University of Montana in Missoula and received his master’s degree. In 1978, he married Marty. In 1980, they had a son, Chaz. Soon after, they moved to Brockton and had two daughters Kari and Caitlin. He began teaching at Brockton Schools in 1980 and spent the rest of his teaching career there until retiring in 2006. He took on various roles such as assistant administrator, junior high science, high school art and supervisor for student council. He was very interactive with his students and was always known for hanging out in the hallway at lunch taking the time to get to know each of his students. He loved rewarding his students for their accomplishments. He also had a deep love for high school sports. He could be seen doing everything from announcing the starting lineup, taking stats and even sweeping the floors. He loved chaperoning the high school basketball tournaments. Later in life, he enjoyed visiting with friends, attending auctions and hanging out with and spoiling his grandsons. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marty; sister, Colleen; and adopted son, Sean Bighorn. He is survived by his son, Chaz; daughters, Kari and Caitlin; five grandsons; sister, Shannon; and adopted sons, Joseph Chase Sr. and Adrien Spotted Bird Jr. Funeral services were held Saturday, Nov. 12, at Brockton High School. Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel was entrusted with arrangements.

Reese Reddoor

Reese Reddoor


Reese Duane Reddoor, 52, of Poplar died Nov. 4, 2022. He was born in Poplar on Nov. 16, 1969. to Adelle Rose Uherka and Edwin “E.J.” John Reddoor Jr. He was his mother’s big boy … called “The Biggest.” He started out in a crib and, in short order, decided he didn’t like it so he literally shook it apart. When she went to get him up for the day, he was sitting in the middle of a pile of crib pieces. From that moment, he just got bigger and stronger. He was a good athlete, excelling in basketball and was a natural as a football quarterback. He was a Dallas Cowboys fan. In his younger years, he loved fast cars and the loud music of Aerosmith and KISS. He was DIY renovating his home and, if he didn’t know how to do it, he figured it out. His soft voice and gentle demeanor belied his absolute zest for living life for and with his children. He is an enrolled member of the Fort Peck Tribes. He graduated from Poplar High School, attended Haskell Indian University, Fort Peck Community College and received a bachelor of science degree in environmental management from Columbia Southern University. He worked at THE WAVE in Billings. He was a JDC officer, game warden, board of Commission for Fish & Game and currently he worked for the IHS OEP office as the construction control inspector. He also owned and operated Reddoor Consulting. He met Marlene Williams and they had a son, Layne Williams. He and Anne Burshia had two daughters, Adrienne and Shani Renee. After their relationship ended, he met and married Leilani Reddog. Together, they had two sons, Justin Wade and Jude Anthony. The marriage ended but successfully co-parented. He was preceded in death by brothers, Big John and Dan Lodmell; sister, Anne McClammy; and son, Lane Williams. He is survived by sons, Justin and Jude Reddoor; daughters, Adrienne and Shani Reddoor; a granddaughter; and brothers, Willis, Patrick, Robert McClammy, Allan, Steve and Gary Lodmell; sisters, Faith O’Connor, Haven Gourneau, Delrae Reddoor, Gaynell McClammy and Velvet Schneider. The funeral was held Friday, Nov. 11, at the Poplar Cultural Center. Interment followed at the Chelsea Cemetery. Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel was entrusted with the arrangements.

Tracy Allan Brien

Tracy Allan Brien


Tracy Allan Brien died at his home on Sept. 2, 2022. He was born Aug. 9, 1963, in Cando, N.D., to Gary Brien Sr. and Betty Lizotte. He enjoyed many things during his childhood — none more than being outside enjoying the outdoors with his family, whether it was hunting fishing or just enjoying the views of the great outdoors. At the age of 17, he enlisted in the National Guard and served his country for 12 years. He was stationed in Culbertson where he met his longtime friend Michael Wolf. Even after they got out of the service, they enjoyed fishing, hunting and other activities together. His son Jesse was born July 7, 1983. After a few years, he met his wife Jaimie in the summer of 1990. They married in 1996 and divorced in 2000. Their first child Amber Marie was born June 14, 1993, and Trevor James Allan was born July 27, 1995. They had much fun together being outdoors, where Amber and Trevor learned all the ins and outs of fishing and hunting. Shortly after moving back to Montana, he met Kandie Madsen and her daughter, Tessa. Tessa was a welcomed addition to the family. After separating from Kandie, he met Lana Domier and spent the last years of his life with her. He moved to the Sidney area from Halliday, N.D., in 1999 and moved back and forth between Culbertson and Sidney. His passion was being outdoors, but he was an avid collector of agates. He would walk the river bottoms for hours looking for the best of the bunch. He would then take them home and make sculptures out of them. He had a real passion for meat cutting and worked at IGA and Reynolds for the last 12 years. He also was a great taxidermist and would do anything from deer to fish. He loved to cook and just have a great time with family and friends. He is survived by his children, Jesse, Amber Fountain Brien, Trevor Brien and Tessa Madsen; ex-wife, Jaimie Allmendinger; two life partners, Kandie Madsen and Lana Domier; siblings, Ronnette McCabe, Pam Strandlund, Sheila Devor, Gary Brien Jr, Shawn Brien and Brenda Christensen; and father, Gary Brien Sr. A celebration of life will be held Nov. 12 from 1 to 5 p.m. at the VFW Post 4099 in Sidney.

Keenan Beauchman

Keenan Patrick Beauchman, 25, of Billings died Oct. 23, 2022, in Billings. He was born in Glasgow on Aug. 11, 1997, the youngest boy of Kevin Beauchman and Tiffany Chopper. He was the happiest little boy and always had the biggest smile. He was always getting complimented on his big brown eyes. He was a real character and was the biggest jokester amongst his family. He had a strong love for family. His hobbies included hunting, doing scratch tickets and being around family. He liked to play Fortnite. His favorite team was the Denver Broncos. He loved to cruise his many different vehicles and bump his systems to oldies but goldies. He was proud of his Native culture. He sundanced, attended sweats and often attended powwows. He lived with his paternal grandfather, Patrick Beauchman, and his maternal grandmother, Mary Redstone, while growing up. He loved his elders and adopted many as grandparents, including Gary and Artis Robinson with whom he lived with at the time, and Winifred and Darwin Shaffer, with whom he attended powwows with. At age 19, he moved to Billings and lived with his sister, Katie Beauchman. He recently graduated from the WATCH Program and received his certificate which he is very proud of. He was employed at Billings Concrete and his work there made him proud. He is survived by his mother, Tiffany Chopper; brothers, Kristopher, Keegan and Kelly Beauchman; sisters, Kayla and Katie Beauchman, and Kylie Chopper; and grandmothers, Mary, Josephine, Alice Redstone, Karen Yellow Robe, Carol Demarrias, Aletha Chopper, Priscilla Carpenter, Dyan Greywater, Jackie Moran, Dina Vega, Florence McGeshick, Chrisandra Martell, Susan Von Eife, Winter Redstone, Le-Anne Redstone, Lucy Mc-Geshick, Tony Martell, Mina Lingle, and Janna Keeler. Funeral services were held Saturday, Nov. 5, at the New Wolf Point Community Hall. Interment followed at Greenwood Cemetery. Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel of Wolf Point was entrusted with the arrangements.
