The Wolf Point School Board gave approval for six staff members to attend professional development training in New Mexico during March 1. The MidSchoolMath National Conference is scheduled in Santa Fe, N.M., from March 1-2. Funding for the trip will be from the Title I School Support grant. Board chair Roxanne Gourneau appointed trustees Michael Turcotte and Mark Zilkoski to the policy committee.

Two individuals filed for Roosevelt County offices during the first day of filing on Thursday, Jan. 11. Tracy Miranda, who was recently appointed to replace retiring clerk and recorder Cheryl Hansen, filed for clerk and recorder. The election is for the final two years of the current term. Eric Peterson, activities director for Wolf Point High School, talked to the Wolf Point Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture about upcoming tournaments in the community during a meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 9. Wolf Point will host the 21team Eastern B/C divisional wrestling meet on Feb. 2-3. The tournament will feature both male and female wrestlers. Action will begin at 9 a.m. each day with tickets

District Judge David J. Cybulski presided over several hearings in Wolf Point on Wednesday, Jan. 10. Weldon Drew changed his plea to guilty for the charge of criminal possession of fentanyl. He admitted that he was arrested on Sept. 21 and that law enforcement found a residue of fentanyl in a tin foil. Maximum penalties for the offense is five years in jail, a $5,000 fine or both.
