The healthy population of upland game birds and significant access to public lands should make the season a successful one. Upland Game Bird Enhancement sites and Block Management areas, as well as public lands and other private lands, provide good opportunities for hunting.

Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks reminds landowners, watershed groups and others that this winter’s deadline to apply for Future Fisheries Improvement Program (FFIP) grants is Nov. 15. Approximately $400,000 is available for the winter grant cycle. The goal of FWP’s FFIP is to restore rivers, streams and lakes to improve Montana’s wild fish habitat. Upland game bird hunters will have access to more than 40,000 additional acres this season through the Upland Game Bird Enhancement Program. The program enrolled an extra 47 projects this summer that are not included in the 2024 Upland Game Bird Access Guide.
