Scobey Runners Place In Poplar

The Scobey Spartans earned third place in the girls’ standings and fourth in the boys’ standings during the Poplar Invitational cross country meet held on Friday, Sept. 4.

Scobey’s girls finished with 55 points. The top two teams were Poplar with 20 and Glasgow with 47 points.

Scobey’s Hailey Johnson placed 13th at the meet with a time of 26:01.0. Esmeralda Sones was 15th at 26:19.0.

Hazel Sones ran the course in 27:31.9 for 19th place. Evee Berryhill placed 24th at 28:14.5.

Merlina Kramer took 27th at 28:36.8. Shelby Cole finished 36th with a time of 29:52.6. Ashtynn Fladager was 42nd at 32:40.2.

In the boys’ division, the Spartans had 109 points for fourth place. Poplar won the team title with 28 points.

Delbert Sones led the Spartans with a time of 21:01.0 for 20th place. Carter Lekvold placed 25th at 21:45.0.

Health Cahill posted a time of 23:30.7 for 34th place. Jack Williams was right behind with a time of 23:32.0 for 35th place.

Thor Lund took 38th at 24:53.6. Bryce Handran was 41st at 25:06.3. Lucas Lekvold took 59th at 32:26.2.

The Spartans will host their home meet on Thursday, Sept. 10.
