Courtney Schoppert

Courtney Schoppert

Courtney Amanda Schoppert, 46, of New Town, N.D., died at her home on Friday, May 16, 2025. She was born Nov. 16, 1978, in Billings to Thomas and Mary (Little Swallow) Schoppert. She spent her childhood in Billings; Kingman, Ariz.; Minot, N.D.; and New Town, N.D. She graduated from high school in Poplar. Her experiences growing up in various places helped shape her vibrant personality and fostered her love for travel. She was a passionate and active student who participated in volleyball, basketball, and cheerleading. She had a deep love for poetry and creative expression. She pursued higher education at the University of Montana in Missoula. She later transferred to the University of Mary in Bismarck, where she earned a bachelor of science in social work. After graduating, she served her community through her work in the social services department at the Three Affiliated Tribes. After the birth of her daughter, Emily, she moved to Tucson, Ariz., to support her daughter's education. They eventually returned to New Town, where she worked for a few years before becoming a stay-at-home mom. During this time, she cared for her mother and stepfather. As a natural caregiver, she enjoyed listening to music, especially Nirvana and other grunge bands; watching movies; and spending time with her nieces, nephews and grandchildren. Her door was always open to those in need. Fearless and outspoken, she was a defender of her family and those she felt needed someone to advocate for them. She was a free-spirited 'flower child' with a fierce love for life and the outdoors. She also found joy in cooking and took pride in preparing meals for her family. With a quick wit and exceptional intelligence, she was always ready for a lively debate and brought passion to every conversation. As a child, she loved the cereal Boo-berries and often requested it, leading her family to nickname her “Booberries,” which was later shortened to “Boo.” Those closest to her also affectionately called her “Corckles.” She is survived by her daughter, Emily; brothers, Thomas Kevin Young Bird and Michael Young Bird Sr., all of New Town; siblings, Charlie Vigen, Pete Young Bird and Daryle Pennington; and numerous grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Wesley Jay Davis, Dakota Heart, Newlyn Heart, Dion White Bear and Kendall Fox. Funeral services were held at Thomas Johnny Bird Veterans Memorial Hall on Thursday, May 22.

Jalen Robinson

Jalen Robinson

Jalen Michael Patrick Robinson, 26, of Wolf Point died May 27, 2025, in Poplar. He was born Feb. 24, 1999, to Andrew John Robinson and Tracey Lynn Hopkins in Wolf Point. He lived there all his life with his family and friends and went to school there. He loved to meet people but was somewhat shy until you got to know him. It was very common of him to help his elders, family and friends. He would do anything to help a person out even if he didn’t know you. He had a good heart. Hanging out with family and friends was his everyday task. During his life, he met Precious ComesLast and, during their relationship, they had a son, Andrew John Robinson. The time he spent with his son meant the world to him. He also loved to spend time with his grandparents, Chic and Garry Robinson. He was always helping and looking out for them. He loved movie night at the folks’, making grandma her popcorn and driving to McDonald’s for double cheeseburgers and fries. He had this one-of-a-kind smile that went from ear to ear. He was always worrying where his brothers were if they weren’t home and, if he didn’t know, he would go looking. He made sure when family events happened that no one got left out. He is survived by his son, Andrew John Robinson; mother, Tracey Hopkins; sister, Gillian Robinson; brothers, Cyler Robinson, Garrick Robinson Jr., Gabriel Robinson and Garry Robinson II; and grandparents, Rose Smoker, Sarah Figueroa, Judy Wagner, Dinah Littlehead, Karen McNabb and Punkie Jackson. Funeral services will be held Friday, June 6, at 11 a.m. at the Wolf Point Community Hall. Internment will be at the Oswego Presbyterian Cemetery. Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel of Wolf Point assisted with the arrangements.
