Poplar’s volleyball team won three matches during season-opening play in Malta on Saturday, Aug. 30. The Indians defeated Fort Benton by a 22-25, 25-14 final. Toni Brown finished with three aces and six assists. Lilliana O’Neal had four kills. Poplar then downed Harlem, 25-16, 25-22. Serving aces were Jayda Falcon and Braelyn Nordwick. Brown had 11 assists. Nordwick scored four kills.

Wolf Point’s volleyball team opened its season at a tournament in Shelby and Choteau during the weekend. During the first round of action, the Wolves defeated Simms, 21-20, 21-19. Firstround losses came against Ennis, Shelby and Manhattan. The Wolves earned victories over Havre’s JVs, 21-19, 21-18, Cut Bank, 21-18, 21-16, and Lodge Grass, 21-11, 21-10, during second-round action.
