Lustre Boys Open Season With Victories Over Terry, Plevna
Lustre’s boys’ basketball team didn’t allow a point in the first quarter and knocked off Terry, 60-19, to open its season in Glasgow on Friday, Dec. 5.
The Lions outscored Terry by a 17-0 margin during the first period of the 13th annual Class C Showcase held in Glasgow.
Lustre accounted for four points in the game’s first minute on a steal and drive by Johnslee Pierre and a hoop by Cam Reddig.
A pair of free throws by Prestyn Klatt and a basket by Reddig off a steal by Diek Olfert put the margin at 8-0.
After Pierre scored off a rebound, a behind-the-ball pass from Reddig to Pierre resulted in another two points.
Klatt then accounted for a three-point play to put the margin to 15-0. The Lions ended the quarter when Pierre scored off a pass from Reddig at the buzzer.
The Lions then outscored Terry by 28-7 margin in the second quarter for a 45-7 lead.
Pierre led the Lions with 20 points. Joel Reddig and Hadden Olfert finished with 10 points each.
Also scoring were Chris Traeholt with eight, Klatt with eight, C. Reddig with six and D. Olfert with two.
Milo Sackman scored six points for Terry.
The Lustre Lions dominated the final three quarters and defeated Plevna, 78-26, during boys’ basketball play in Glasgow on Saturday, Dec. 6.
After leading 17-11 at the ene of the first period, the Lions poured in 24 points in the second quarter for a 41-13 half-time advantage.
Lustre then added 19 points in the third quarter for a 6022 lead.
Leading Lustre’s attack were Joel Reddig with 23, Prestyn Klatt with 16 and Cam Reddig with 14.
Also scoring for the Lions were Diek Olfert with six, Chris Traeholt with six, Johnslee Pierre with six, Hadden Olfert with five and Wheeler Damboise with two.
