Cowboys Lose Playoff Game In Belt

The Culbertson Cowboys lost by a 54-7 margin in their first-round playoff game at Belt on Saturday, Nov. 1.

The highly-ranked Belt squad struck first on a seven- yard touchdown pass with 8:01 left in the opening quarter. After the Cowboys came up short on a fourthand- two running play, the Huskies gained possession on the Culbertson 34. Belt drove and scored on a fouryard run with 4:30 remaining in the period.

Belt then stopped the Cowboys on a fake punt attempt. The Huskies drove 31 yards and scored on a seven-yard quarterback scramble for a 24-0 lead to end the opening quarter.

In the second period, a short, swing pass resulted in a 45-yard touchdown for the Huskies. Belt’s next touchdown came on a 32-yard run for a 40-0 lead with 8:37 left in the half.

After an interception, Belt added a touchdown on a twoyard run with 4:45 left in the half for a 48-0 advantage.

Belt’s lone touchdown of the second half came on a 38-yard counter run with 10:31 remaining in the third quarter. Early in the fourth quarter, the Cowboys drove 48 yards for a touchdown. A run by Brooks Solem was good for 19 yards to the Belt 29. Facing a third-and-four situation, Solem gained seven yards to the 16 for another first down.

A pass from Solem to Ian Snyder moved the ball to the seven. On first down from the one, Solem scored with 7:54 remaining. Trust Magwaba kicked the conversion for a 54-7 score.
