Cowboys Drop Home Game Against Forsyth Squad

The Culbertson Cowboys suffered a tough home football opening game as they lost to Forsyth by a 46-12 final on Friday, Sept. 5.
The contest was scoreless until near the end of the first quarter when Forsyth put together a 72-yard scoring drive highlighted with runs by quarterback Bryan Bidwell, Ryan Wiggins and Coy Pinkerton. A 22-yard dash by Creighton Teeters on a reverse play produced a first down at the Cowboy three. On second down from the five, Bidwell ran into the end zone with eight seconds left in the period. The quarterback also got in for the conversion for an 8-0 margin.
Culbertson responded by driving into Forsyth territory. A pass completion from Brooks Solem to Ian Snyder was good for a first down at the Forsyth 36. The Cowboys marched as deep as the 26 until the threat ended with a fourth-down incompletion.
The Dogies increased their lead on a 27-yard touchdown run on a pitch out to Pinkerton. Bidwell ran in the conversion for a 16-0 lead with 3:36 remaining in the half.
Culbertson got back into the contest when Solem recovered a poor snap on a punt attempt and raced 21 yards to the Forsyth 33. A completion from Solem to Aden Drake kept the drive alive with a first down at the 22. Another pass from Solem to Mauricio Mena produced a first down at the nine.
On the next play, Solem threw to Mena at the five, and Mena raced into the end zone with 59 seconds left in the half.
Forsyth increased its lead to 24-6 early in the third quarter on a 50-yard touchdown run. Later in the quarter, Ryder Wiggins intercepted a pass deep inside Culbertson territory. The Doggies went on to score on an eight-yard dash by Ryan Wiggins with 3:01 left in the quarter. Bidwell ran in the conversion for a 32-6 margin.
Forsyth’s first touchdown of the fourth quarter came on a 44-yard keeper run by Bidwell at the 9:56 mark.
Culbertson scored with 6:21 left when Micah Eagle Boy reached the end zone on a two-yard run. Forsyth added a touchdown with 4:18 remaining for the 46-12 final.
