Three Indians Earn Wrestling Titles


Three Poplar wrestlers won championships during the tournament in Moorcroft, Wyo.
Angelina Escarcega earned the title in the girls’ 100 pound division. She defeated Baker’s Emmalyn Miller on a major decision in the championship match. Her other victories came on a pin and technical fall.
Alara Cooper captured the title in the girls’ 115 pound division. She pinned her opponent in 3:42 for the title. Cooper also won matches on a pin and technical fall.
Navarjo Escarcega won the championship in the boys’ 138 pound competition. Escarcega earned a 20-7 major decision victory in the title match. Escarcega pinned three other opponents at the tournament.
Blake Follette placed third in the girls’ 120 pounds. Follette won four matches on pins during the tournament.
Girls placing fifth were Liberty Boadle at 105 and Laityn Allen at 110 pounds.
Rollen Spotted Bull took sixth place at 285 pounds. He won two matches on decisions at the tournament held Friday, Jan. 24, and Saturday, Jan. 25.
