Letters To The Editor
Dear Editor:
I am the executive director of the Northeast Montana Health Services Charitable Foundation, a local nonprofit (501c3) organization. Like other nonprofit organizations, we’re supported by donations from local community members, like you. Our board uses your donations to purchase unbudgeted items at Northeast Montana Health Services that directly impact our patients and residents.
We are proud to do this work, and proud to deliver a much-needed service to Wolf Point, Poplar, & our surrounding communities. Donations from our community support Trinity Hospital, the Listerud Clinic, Poplar Community Hospital, the Riverside Clinic, NEMHS Pharmacies in Poplar & Wolf Point and Faith Lutheran Home.
But we can’t do this work alone. With incomes not keeping pace with the cost of living for families, seniors, and workers in our community, our resources are stretched thin. We encourage our newly elected state legislators to visit with our board of directors at the NEMHS Charitable Foundation and Northeast Montana Health Services, learn more about the healthcare needs & struggles in northeast Montana, and partner with the nonprofit sector in creating meaningful solutions.
There are organizations just like ours all across Montana – some bigger, some smaller, all making a difference. Nonprofit organizations like food banks, art museums, animal shelters, 4-H clubs, charitable hospitals, and others are critical to Montana. Not only do we help our neighbors get by and make Montana a great place to live, but we also employ over 11 percent of Montana’s workforce.
The Northeast Montana Health Services Charitable Foundation is proud to be part of Montana’s nonprofit sector. We appreciate your support — whether it’s in time, money, or championing our causes, and we look forward to working with local & state officials to better the healthcare availabilities of our rural hospitals, clinics, pharmacies and residential homes.

Dear Editor:
Regarding the building of a new school using a grant, I understand that this is a matching grant that will raise our taxes.
Taxpayers will be burdened with more taxes. A new school building does not teach our students. Work with programs that help our teachers and students. Taxpayers will be having to come up with more tax money.
With property taxes going up, a new school is not feasible. Taxes are increasing! Maybe there should be a vote on this. Call the District office at 406-653-2361.
