Bainville’s volleyball team lost a competitive volleyball match at Scobey on Friday, Oct. 4. The Bulldogs fell by a 15-25, 21-25, 18-25 final.
The Bulldogs suffered with a slow start and trailed 8-0 in the first set. The Bulldogs then got going and came as close as 11-8 on kills by Miah Pippenger and Casey Myers.
After Scobey increased its lead to 16-9 on kills by Camrie Holum and Emery Rouse, Bainville’s Elsie Wilson scored a kill.
With the score at 22-16, the Spartans closed the set on kills by Holum and an ace by Kaytie Aanstad.
The Bulldogs gained early leads in the second set on a spike by Miah Pippenger and block by Wilson, but Scobey moved ahead by a 17-13 advantage. Kills by Addison Hansen and Hailey Berwick kept Bainville close at 22-18. Kills by Wilson cut Scobey’s lead to 23-20, but the Spartans held on for the 25-21 final.
Scobey took a 12-8 lead in the third set, but Bainville came storming back on the net play of Pippenger and Wilson for a 12-12 deadlock.
After the Spartans grabbed a 19-16 advantage, Bainville cut the gap to 20-18 on a tip by Lila Butikofer and a kill by Berwick.
Scobey, however, accounted for the last five points of the match.
