Red Hawks Come Back To Edge Cowgirls
Froid/Lake fought back to edge Culbertson in a five-set volleyball match on Friday, Sept. 27.
The Red Hawks came away with a 25-18, 22-25, 21-25, 25-21, 19-17, league victory.
“Culbertson showed up with great energy and great defense. They made us work hard for our kills,” Froid/Lake Coach Tarryn Woelber said. “The fifth set was intense to watch.”
After falling behind in the fifth set, the Red Hawks battled back to 10-10.
“The fifth set went into extra points and Froid-Lake managed to come out on top, making this a huge conference win for us,” Woelber said.
After the two squads split the first two sets, the Cowgirls won the third set 25-21 as Leandra Perkins scored two kills and Emma Berwick added a kill down the stretch.
Isabelle Nordwick led the Red Hawks with 14 kills, two aces, four solo blocks, two block assists and two digs. Brooklyn Nordwick scored three kills, two solo blocks, nine assists and two digs.
Mara Salvevold finished with five aces, four kills, two solo blocks, one assisted block and six digs. Addison Elvsaas had an ace, 13 assists and four digs.
Jordyn Breuer added two solo blocks and one assisted block. Alexa Nelson finished with six digs. Avery Johnson served an ace and had six digs. Keira Stentoft had eight digs.
“This week we began exploring a 6-2 rotation with Addison and Brooklynn as our setters. It has the potential to be a great rotation for us. We just need to work out some kinks,” Woelber said.
Froid/Lake then swept Lustre by a final of 25-12, 2510, 25-9, on Saturday, Sept. 28.
