Air Passenger Amounts Stay Steady In Area
The Lyman M. Clayton Airport remains the second most busy of the five Essential Air Service airports with Cape Air service in Montana.
During the month of May, Wolf Point had 287 enplanements with Cape Air. The only Montana EAS airport busier was Sidney with 578 enplanements.
Other enplanement figures for May included Havre with 260, Glasgow with 237 and Glendive with 177.
For the first five months of 2024, Wolf Point has experienced 1,282 enplanements. Sidney tops the list with 2,911 enplanements. Havre has registered 1,196, Glasgow has 1,069 and Glendive has 841.
Wolf Point has steadily seen an increase of passengers leaving on Cape Air throughout 2024. The monthly totals have been 200 in January, 252 in February, 258 in March, 285 in April and 287 in May.
Wolf Point appears to be on track to reach more than 3,000 enplanements again in 2024. The totals for Wolf Point were 3,349 in 2021, 3,069 in 2022 and 3,166 in 2023.
Back in 2015, Wolf Point reported 3,957 enplanements. The total was above 3,800 for each year from 2017-2019. The number dipped to 2,755 in the COVID impacted year of 2020.
Last fall, the U.S. Department of Transportation reselected Cape Air to provide Essential Air Service at five eastern Montana communities: Glasgow, Glendive, Havre, Sidney and Wolf Point.
Cape Air has been serving these communities since 2013 and will continue to provide service between the communities and Billings Logan International Airport for the four-year term from Jan. 1, 2024, through Dec. 31, 2027.
