The Post #49 Bulls captured two home victories over the Watford City Phillies during American Legion baseball action on Monday, July 1.

The Bulls edged Watford City by a 10-8 final in the opening game of the day.

Behind by a 8-5 margin entering the bottom of the seventh, the Bulls came through with five runs for the victory. A two-out double by Plenny Williams knocked home Preston Swenson and Henry Kukowski with the winning runs.

Earlier in the fifth, a bases- loaded double by Kukowski brought home T. Tommerup, Kash Ator and Mitchell Brown to produce an 8-8 deadlock.

Ator pitched the final four innings for the victory. P. Williams pitched the first three frames.

Leading the Bulls’ hitting attack were Ty Leischner, Kukowski, Swenson, P. Williams and Ator with two hits each.

Leichner, Kukowski and Swenson each scored twice.

The Bulls then outscored the Phillies, 13-5, in the second game.

The Bulls jumped out to a 7-2 lead in the bottom of the first inning. A triple by Tommerup and a double by Kukowski were highlights of the inning.

P. Williams finished the contest with two hits to lead the Bulls.

Scoring two runs each were Kukowski, Tommerup and P. Williams. Kukowski and Tommerup each had two runs batted in.

Pitchers for the Bulls were Cooper King, Leischner, Logan Brown and Trent Williams.

The Post #49 Bulls overpowered the Miles City Mavericks B team, 10-5, at the American Legion baseball tournament in Glendive on Friday, July 5.

The Bulls jumped out a 5-1 lead with two runs in the first and three more in the second inning. Alex Moreno and Preston Swenson each singled and went on to steal home in the first.

In the second inning, Moreno belted a double to bring home both Trent Williams and Mitchell Brown. A single by Swenson knocked home Logan Brown for a 5-1 advantage.

After the Mavericks tied the game with four runs in the bottom of the third, the Bulls went back ahead when Henry Kukowski singled, stole two bases and came home on an error.

The Bulls took control with four runs in the top of the sixth inning. After Plenny Williams singled and scored, Moreno stole home for the second run of the frame. Swenson then connected for a triple to knock home Kukowski. Swenson came in on a single by Cooper King.

Swenson and Moreno led the Bulls’ attack with three hits each. Kukowski finished with two hits.

Having two runs batted in each were Swenson and Moreno.

L. Brown was the game’s winning pitcher. He allowed seven hits and struck out three batters during three innings.

The Bulls dropped their final three games during the tournament in Glendive.

The Bulls fell to the Glendive B team by an 8-7 final on Saturday, July 6.

Glendive and the Bulls were deadlocked at 3-3 after three innings, but the Blue Devils moved ahead 6-3 in the bottom of the fourth inning.

The Bulls bounced back with two runs in the top of the fifth. Preston Swenson scored the first run on a sacrifice fly by Cooper King. Plenny Williams later scored on a hit by Aden Drake.

After Glendive tallied two runs in the bottom of the fifth, the Bulls came as close as 8-7 with a pair of runs in the top of the sixth. Ty Leischner singled and went on to score for the first run. A hit by P. Williams knocked in Henry Kukowski for a onerun game.

P. Williams and Swenson led the Bulls with three hits each. Swenson scored three of the team’s runs.

King finished with three runs batted in.

Kukowski and P. Williams pitched for the Bulls.

The Bulls then lost to the Billings Expos by an 18-2 margin on Saturday, July 6.

Billings jumped out to a 13-0 lead during the first two innings.

Connecting for hits for the Bulls were Alex Moreno, King and Austin Tommerup.

Teegan Fossum and Leischner scored the Bulls’ runs.

The Bulls lost to Glendive’s A team by a 15-5 margin on Sunday, July 7.

Trailing by a 6-1 margin, the Bulls battled back to 6-5 with two runs in the third and two more runs in the fourth inning. After Moreno scored on a steal of home, a hit by Kukowski knocked in Leischner in the third inning. A double by Moreno brought home Mitchell Brown and Logan Brown during the fourth inning.

Glendive took control with four runs in the fifth and five more runs in the sixth inning.

Moreno and Kukowski each finished with two hits for the Bulls. Moreno accounted for two RBIs.
