Dethman, Wilson Place At Class C State Track Meet
Froid/Lake’s Mason Dethman and Bainville’s Elsie Wilson each earned All-State honors during the Class C state track meet in Great Falls during the weekend.
Dethman, a senior, placed in four individual events at the meet. The Red Hawks scored 14 points for 12th place in the boys’ standings.
Dethman finished third in the 400-meter dash with a personal record time of 51.13 seconds. He placed fourth in the 200 with a personal best time of 22.89 seconds. He took fourth in the shot put with a mark of 47-7.
Froid/Lake’s team of Kaj Jensen, Dethman, Daniel Forzis and Nate Stentoft earned top honors in the unified 400-meter relay race. Jensen placed second in the unified 100-meter dash.
Bainville’s Wilson finished fifth in the 100-meter dash with a personal best time of 13.01 seconds.
Wilson, a junior, just missed placing in the long jump with a mark of 16-7 for seventh and in the 200 at 27.53 for eighth.
Samuel Butikofer cleared 7-0 for seventh in the high jump.
Bainville’s 1600-meter relay team of Keagan Vaira, Reese Harmon, Kaiden Holmes and Samuel Butikofer ran a time of 3:43.42 for a new school record. The old record was 3.45.7 by Eric Hansen, Jaymie Romo, Luke Romo and Dusty Berwick in 1997.
Highlights for Culbertson’s track program was senior Destiny Thompson with a mark of 109-0 in the javelin for seventh and freshman Plenny Williams with a mark of 134-11 in the discus for seventh.
Savage’s girls shared the state championship in the girls’ division. Leading the Warriors were Brooke Reuter, who won state titles in the 100 and 200, and Cambry Conradsen, who placed second in the two sprints.
The top three teams in the boys’ division were Belt with 67 points, Manhattan Christian with 56 and Lustre Christian with 42 points.
Other Eastern C athletes winning state titles were Lustre’s Terran Joseph in the 200, Saco’s Blaine Downing in the 400 and pole vault, Scobey’s Ty Leischner in the high jump, Whitewater’s Shelbi LaBrie in the 1600 and 3200, Whitewater’s Paige Wasson in the javelin and Saco’s Teagan Erickson in the long jump.
