Cowboys Beat Richey/Lambert To Post League Victory

Culbertson broke away in the third quarter to down Richey/Lambert, 57-36, in home boys’ basketball action on Thursday, Jan. 18.

The Cowboys held a 27-19 half-time advantage, but the Fusion battled back to 27-22 on three straight points by Austin Lien to open the third quarter.

The Cowboys responded with a 10-0 run highlighted with eight points by Donte Eagle Boy. Nyreece Halvorson added a short jumper.

Richey/Lambert struggled with cold shooting and Culbertson’s press until a baseline shot by Tanner Goosen and an inside basket by Lien cut the margin to 37-26.

Micah Eagle Boy scored off a rebound to put Culbertson ahead 39-26 at the end of the quarter.

The scoring of D. Eagle Boy along with a three-pointer by Plenny Williams provided the Cowboys with a 48-32 lead with 4:52 to play. D. Eagle Boy connected on a three-pointer and Gavin Deen hit a 14-footer to increase the margin to 53-32.

Eagle Boy led the Cowboys with 26 points. Adding six points each were Deen, Bridger Salvevold and Dawson Bergum.

Also scoring were Micah Eagle Boy with four, Nyreece Halvorson with four, Williams with three and Ian Snyder with two.

Lien led the Fusion with 17 points. Beau Mullin scored seven and Curtis Mullin added five points.

The Cowboys jumped out to a 14-2 advantage and held a 16-8 lead at the end of the first quarter.

A pull-up jumper by D. Eagleboy put Culbertson ahead 22-12 midway into the second period. B. Mullin hit a three-pointer to help the Fusion cut the gap to 27-19 at the half.
