Selena Rose Agosto, 26, of Wolf Point died Nov. 7, 2023, in Frazer. She was born in Wolf Point on July 23, 1997, to Humberto “Joey” Agosto and Kayleen Jewel Martell. Joey and Kayleen had five children, Kevor Martell, Kristin Martell, Miki (Dillon Fisher) Agosto, Selena Rose and Joseph Agosto. She attended the Wolf Point Schools and loved spending time with family and friends. She loved hanging out with everyone and listening to music. She also loved singing Halo by Beyonce. She and Clay Nygaard gave birth to a baby boy, Tobe Garrett Nygaard on Aug. 21, 2013. She had a pure innocent heart and always could bring a smile to your face when you seen her. She was a joy since the day she was born. She was preceded in death by her brother, Kevor Martell. She is survived by her son, Tobe Garrett Nygaard; father, Humberto “Joey” Agosto; mother, Kayleen J. Martell; siblings, Kristen Martell, Miki Agosto, Dillon Fisher and Joseph Agosto; grandparents, Humberto (Sandy) Agosto and Sandy Azure; Funeral services were held Wednesday, Nov. 15, at the new Community Hall in Wolf Point. Interment was at Greenwood Cemetery in Wolf Point. Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel was in charge of the arrangements.

Leroy Allen Simonson, 74, died Nov. 5, 2023, in Malta. He was born on Aug. 18, 1949, in Havre to Roger and Kathleen “Ree” (Murdock) Simonson. He was their firstborn son, delivered by Ree’s sister and nurse, Marjorie (Murdock) Olsen. From that day on, Leroy and his gunt Marjorie had a special relationship. He graduated from Whitewater High School in 1967. After high school, he joined the National Guard while attending Northern Montana College in Havre, where he met Gale Waters. They were married on July 2, 1971, in Froid at the Congregational Church. After the wedding, they moved to the Simonson Ranch, where he worked alongside his father, Roger. Son Matt was born in 1972, followed by twin boys, Chad and Jerry in 1974. In 1975, the family moved to the Dwayne Compton place, north of Loring, where they established the U2 Ranch. In 1978, the couple welcomed a second set of twins, Krystal and Shon. He spent a lifetime farming and ranching, taking the good years with the bad. He was also an experienced pilot. He obtained his pilot’s license while in college and purchased his first airplane in cash, with money earned from selling coyote pelts. He flew his Super Cub airplane on the farm and ranch regularly, checking cows, water, crops and grass. In his earlier years, when he wasn’t farming and ranching, he also enjoyed team roping. The family spent many weekends at ropings in Whitewater, Turner, Loring, Saco, Malta and in Canada. In 2012, they bought a home in Maricopa, Ariz., and started spending the winters in Arizona. In Arizona, he enjoyed golfing and visiting the dirt mall to find a good deal but, most of all, spending time with family and visiting the many friends, new and old, who also wintered there. For the last 30 years or more, Leroy was a member of the Malta Men’s Club, “Bucket”. The group meets once a month for dinner, and he always looked forward to the opportunity to visit with friends. Family was always a priority for him. The family spent many weekends at the Simonson family cabin at Nelson Reservoir. There were also trips to Fort Peck Lake to spend time with the Waters family, trips to the Heartland Ranch to hunt and ski trips in the winter to Big Mountain. He is survived by his wife, Gale; children, Matt, Chad, Jerry, Krystal and Shon; 12 grandchildren; his mother, Ree; and siblings, Lynn, Danny and JoAnn. Services were held Monday, Nov. 13, at the Malta Lutheran Church with burial at the cemetery.

Margaret Abbott, 80, of Poplar died Nov. 14, 2023. She was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on July 4, 1943, to Clarence Joseph Schneider and Concetta Alba Bellantoni. Her early childhood was spent in a loving home with Grandmother Rose while her father served in the United States Navy and her mother worked. After World War II, the family moved to Riverton, Wyo., where her younger sister, Diane, was born. The family grew with brothers Richard and Hudson and sisters Marilyn, Peggy and Valarie. The family later moved to Billings, where she spent her educational years. She graduated from Billings Central High School in 1961. Shortly after her graduation, she met and married Joe Abbott and they settled in Poplar. They raised three children: Larry, Rose and Bonnie. She went back tot school, attending Eastern Montana College in Billings where she received her teaching degree (bachelor of science in English and history) in 1973. She began teaching at the Poplar Schools in 1973 and taught there for 30 years. In 1995, she took a sabbatical and went back to school at the University of Montana in Missoula where she earned her masters degree in English education. After Joe’s death in 2005, she started a new teaching career in the English Department at Fort Peck Community College where she continued to teach until May 2023. She was greatly liked and respected by faculty, administration and, most importantly, her students. She was a generous instructor who developed great relationships with everyone. She was elected Faculty Senate secretary/ treasurer and was awarded Faculty of the Year status. She loved teaching, gardening, books and crossword puzzles, rock concerts (Rolling Stones), helping others with her community services and volunteering when someone or some group needed an extra hand. She was also a religious woman who attended church regularly and participated in services. She also loved to cook and bake, providing “goodies” whenever the opportunity arose. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe; and her daughter, Rose. She is survived by her son, Larry; daughter, Bonnie; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Her funeral mass was held Tuesday, Nov. 21, at the Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Poplar. Cremation will follow. Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel was entrusted with the arrangements.
