While many young boys were relaxing this summer, the Flinn brothers of rural Poplar were working and learning as they were preparing pigs for this week’s Roosevelt County Fair in Culbertson.
The three brothers, Jaxon, 14, C.J., 11, and Kashtyn, 9, will each have pigs entered at the fair. In fact, Kashtyn has two pigs, Scooter and Terminator.

The Wolf Point swim pool is nearing the end of a very busy summer. The last day for swimming is Aug. 13.
Mandi Campbell, pool manager, said there was an average of 75 to 125 swimmers a day.
“That’s for the afternoon session, family swim and night session,” Campbell explained. “Family swim has really picked up the last few years.”

Janet Christoffersen, who was removed by the Roosevelt County Commissioners from the position of county attorney at the end of June, has filed a complaint against the county. Christoffersen is seeking a declaration from the court that she remains the Roosevelt County Attorney because commissioners don’t have the authority to remove her from office.

The Wolf Point School board hired Demi Wilkinson as the school district’s new business manager during a special meeting on Wednesday, Aug. 2.
Wilkinson is replacing long-term business manager/district clerk Cheri’ Nygard, who is moving to Lockwood. She has served as district clerk since 2011. Later in the meeting, trustees unanimously appointed Wilkinson as the district clerk.
