Poplar Wrestlers Earn Honors In Glasgow
Poplar’s wrestling squad enjoyed success during the Scottie Invitational held in Glasgow during the weekend.
In the girls’ division, Blake Follette won the title at 114 pounds. She pinned Malta’s AJ Marquis in 1:13 during semi-final round action. Follette then pinned Harlem’s Cyla Adams in 4:46 in the title match.
Angelina Escarcega placed second at 107 pounds. She dropped a 4-1 decision against Simms’ Hayley Petersen in the title match.
Alara Parshall earned third place at 114 pounds. After losing in the quarter-final round, Parshall won four straight matches, all by pins.
Poplar’s Navarjo Escarcega placed third at 138 points in the boys’ division. After dropping a tough 3-2 decision in the semi-final round, Escarcega pinned Red Lodge’s Nolan Evenson in 2:56 and then outpointed Glendive’s Matthew Reske, 5-2.
Craig Berg earned fourth place at 170 pounds. He dropped a match on a fall in the semi-final round, but Berg then pinned Billings Central’s Jet Lafontaine in 1:50.
Travis Pribbernow, Aries White Tail Feather and Rollen Spotted Bull each won matches at the tournament.
