Wolf Point’s girls’ basketball squad struggled on the offensive end and lost at home against Sidney by a 4423 final on Tuesday, Dec. 5.

The Wolves, playing without starter Sierra Hamilton due to injury, took a 4-3 lead on a drive by Juellz Bauer with 5:12 remaining in the opening quarter.

Sidney, however, struck the final six points of the period on hoops by Savanna Anderson, Ella Norby and Ave’ Norby.

Wolf Point started the second period well on a pair of free throws by Kashlyn Speak Thunder, but the aggressive Eagle squad went out to a 16-6 lead.

Wolf Point’s Keeley Blount-Henderson accounted for a steal and layup to give the Wolves momentum at the end of the half for a 16-8 margin.

Sidney then tallied the first seven points of the third quarter including four by A. Norby, a sophomore.

Down by a 27-9 margin near the end of the quarter, Wolf Point scored two quick baskets on drives by Ameliya Doney and Keeley Blount-Henderson to cut the gap to 27-13.

A three-pointer by Bauer pulled the Wolves to 29-16 early in the fourth quarter. The senior guard hit another three-pointer midway into the period to close the margin to 34-19.

Two straight baskets by Blount-Henderson, including one off a steal by Speak Thunder, pulled the Wolves to 36-23 but Sidney earned a 44-23 victory.

Top scorers for the Wolves were Bauer with nine points and Blount-Henderson with eight points.

Speak Thunder added six points.

Anderson led the Eagles with 19 points.
