Red Hawks Beat Brockton
The Froid/Lake Red Hawks cruised over Brockton, 25-6, 25-11, 25-14, in the first round of the District 1C volleyball tournament in Plentywood on Thursday, Oct. 26.
The serving of Brooklynn Nordwick and net play of Mara Salvevold led Froid/ Lake to a 7-1 lead in the first set. Kills by Isabelle Nordwick and Salvevold increased the gap to 9-1.
The strong net play of Jaeleigh Davidson and serving of Salvevold put the Red Hawks ahead by an 18-2 margin.
With the score at 22-5, Froid/Lake ended the set on an ace by Addison Elvsaas, a kill by B. Nordwick and a kill by Davidson.
In the second set, the Red Hawks pulled ahead to 15-5 on kills by Lilly Johnson and Davidson along with an ace by Elvsaas.
Two more winners by Johnson put the score at 18-8. An ace by Davidson and kill by Salvevold led the way to a 24-6 advantage. After Brockton closed the gap to 24-11, the Red Hawks won by a 25-11 margin.
Froid/Lake gained a 12-4 advantage in the third set on the net play of Davidson and L. Johnson. An ace by I. Nordwick and a kill by Davidson put the margin at 15-4.
With the score at 18-9, two serves by Davidson and a kill by L. Johnson put the margin at 22-10. Froid/Lake won the third set by a 25-14 final.
