Optimist Club Announces A Mile Of Love
The Optimist Club of Wolf Point has a goal of making a mile of pennies up Sixth Avenue. This is a project for the community by the community.
The attempt will be made Saturday, June 3, starting at 2 p.m. The activity will start at the highway and continue north towards the swimming pool up Sixth Avenue North.
“We can’t conquer this goal without you,” Optimist Club president AJ Allen said.
Community members are asked to save pennies and bring them to the event. Tell all your family, friends and neighbors to save their pennies.
Proceeds will benefit the local Childhood Health and Wellness Fund.
Just how far is a mile of pennies? One penny may not seem like much. Together, the pennies can go a long way in making a real difference. Here’s a guide: 1/8 mile = 10,560 pennies, end to end, (that’s 105.60) 1/4 mile = 21,120 pennies, end to end, (that’s 211.20) 1/2 mile = 42,240 pennies, end to end, (that’s 422.40) 3/4 mile = 63,360 pennies, end to end, (that’s 633.60) 1 mile = 84,480 pennies, end to end, (that’s $844.80) Start saving your pennies and bring them on Saturday, June 3. You may tape down your own pennies or hand them off to volunteers. Working together for a goal is rewarding in many ways. Let’s make a Mile of Pennies. Look at the sunny side of everything and make your optimism come true.
