Elder Storytellers Featured In Poplar

 

Local elders and storytellers Cheyenne Foote and Tommy Christian will be sharing stories and songs bi-weekly starting Wednesday, Jan. 11 at 6 p.m. at the James E. Shanley Tribal Library in Poplar.

Director Lori Smoker and staff are inviting the public to gather with family, come to the library to listen to stories and enjoy a hot bowl of soup and frybread from Clover’s.

Events and activities for January at the library include Baby & Me Storytime at 9:30 a.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays, Preschool Storytime at 10:30 a.m. Mondays and Wednesdays and Homework Help periods from 3-4:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Sensory Play periods are scheduled for Fridays at 9:30 a.m.

Cookbook Club starts at 6 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 29. The

Morning Book Club meets at 9:30 a.m. on Sat., Jan. 28. Library director Lori Smoker told the Northern Plains Independent that patrons are invited to kick off the new year by resolving to read more books. “All ages are encouraged to join us for our Winter Reading Challenge,” said Smoker. “Warm up with a good book, challenge yourself and win prizes.”
