Frontier Announces Election For Trustees Frontier Announces Election For Trustees

Frontier School recently announced that two trustee positions for its school board will be up for election in the spring.

The positions are currently held by Therese Wilkinson Long and Ashley Porras.

Superintendent Keith Hays explained that Long is a long-time trustee. Porras was appointed to the board after former trustee Levi Grant moved out of the district.

Hays said both Long and Porras have indicated that they intend to file for election for the trustee positions.

Applicants must file for the position by Feb. 9, 2026, at 5 p.m. The mail ballot election will be completed on May 5, 2026.

For more information or to get a filing form, see district clerk La-Vonna Pew or call 406-653-2501 or email lpew@frontierk8.org. Forms can also be picked up at the school office or the website www.frontier8. org.

“It’s good to get it out there,” Hays said of the trustee election.

During the November board meeting, trustees renewed Hays’ contract as superintendent/principal for another year.

“I always do one year at a time,” Hays said of the contract. “I’m old and want to keep my options open.”

In other school news, Hays said the fifth-sixth grade girls’ basketball team went undefeated and won the conference tournament. Both the 5-6 grade boys’ team and 7-8 grade boys’ team placed second in the tournament. The 7-8 grade girls’ team took third.
