Indians Fall Short Against Harlem

The Poplar Indians fell short in both of their conference basketball games in Harlem on Saturday, Dec. 18.

Harlem’s boys edged the Indians by a 71-64 margin.

Poplar trailed by only a 1612 margin after the opening quarter and 37-32 score at the half. The Indians closed the gap to 53-51 during the third quarter.

Leading the Indians were Dennis Red Eagle and Delray Lilley with 16 points each. Kaniel Ricker also reached double figures with 12 points.

Also scoring were Geordy Medicine Cloud with eight, William Youngman with six and Preston Ogle with six.

RJ Ramone scored 52 points for Harlem.

In the girls’ contest, Harlem won by an 80-40 final.

The Wildcats jumped out to a 28-12 lead in the first quarter and were ahead by a 46-18 half-time margin.

Harlem scored 27 points in the third quarter en route to the league victory.

Top scorers for Poplar were Teagan Escarega with eight , Morgen Nordwick with seven and Kassee Erickson with six points.

Also scoring were Emma Rea Martell with five, Rikki Belton with four, Mattie Fallsdown with three, Jazmyn Carrywater with three, Bailey Dupree with two and Grace Lyn Medicine Cloud with two.

Taya Trottier accounted for 38 of Harlem’s points. Chloe Messerly added 14 points.
