Although the list of teaching openings in Wolf Point looks long when a person glances at the ad in this newspaper, reality is that the needed positions aren’t any more than normal for the school district.

“It’s kind of deceiving,” Wolf Point Superintendent of Schools Loverty Erickson said.

She explains that the State requires school districts to advertise for positions that are already occupied with emergency authorization instructors.

The teaching positions that school officials are still looking to fill include two third-grade teachers, two fifth-grade teachers, junior high science, junior high social studies, junior high English and high school history. Each school also needs additional special education staff members.

Erickson said she is fairly confident in finding the needed instructors because the amount is close to being the historically average at this time of year in Wolf Point.

There has been interest in the Southside principal position, and the committee is in the process of determining the best direction.

In addition, there are support staff positions open for such jobs as paraprofessionals, kitchen help, custodians and substitute teachers.

Erickson asks that families who live three or more miles out of the city limits call the school district, 653-2361, so the school district can plan for busing.

The school district office is open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
