Wolf Point Girls Drop Game In Scobey

Wolf Point’s girls enjoyed a great start but came up short in Scobey, 45-32, on Saturday, Jan. 16.

The Wolves’ full-court pressure along with the scoring of Hamyanie Campbell created a 14-4 lead.

Scobey closed the margin to 15-12 at the end of the first quarter.

The Spartans struck for the first seven points of the second period. Campbell then scored to cut the gap to 19-17.

After Scobey moved ahead 21-17, Wolf Point’s Josie Kolstad drove in for a hoop to put the half-time margin at 21-19.

Scobey led 31-27 at the end of the third quarter and accounted for nine of the first 11 points of the fourth quarter.

“We didn’t get any really meaningful screens in our offense,” Wolf Point coach Jon Kolstad said. “We didn’t utilize our post players well.”

Campbell scored 14 points to lead the Wolves. Also scoring were Sierra Hamilton with six, Kolstad with five, J’Elle Garfield with four and Hailey Nelson with three.

Scobey’s top scorers were Gracee Lekvold with 21 and Karys Lamb with seven points.

Wolf Point hit seven of its 11 free-throw attempts compared to Scobey’s 12 for 21 tries.

The Wolves will travel to Poplar on Friday, Jan. 22, and host Malta on Saturday, Jan. 23.
