Wolf Point High School senior Parker Swenson appreciates the Wolf Point community and the positive impacts that students can have for area residents.

“It’s very closely knitted,” Swenson said of Wolf Point. “Everybody has your back.”

As a two-year member of the National Honor Society, he enjoys how the group gets involved. Although some events haven’t been possible because of COVID concerns, he says National Honor Society hopes to have future activities.

“It allows us to help out with less fortunate people,” Swenson said of the school group. “It’s a good opportunity for volunteerism.”

Last school year, activities for the organization included a Christmas craft bazaar, selling suckers for Valentines Day and helping at the Elders dinner.

“There’s a dinner for tribal elders, and we serve the food and wait on them,” Swenson explained the Elders dinner.

As far as sports, Swenson was a senior leader on this year’s football squad.

“I’m a one-sport guy,” he laughed.

He appreciates the school’s atmosphere in Wolf Point.

“For the most part, I like it,” Swenson said. “The people are really nice.”

He describes chemistry as his favorite class.

“It’s something I want to learn and all my friends are in that class,” he noted.

Leslie Larson, a chemistry and physical science instructor, is his favorite teacher.

“She’s really caring and passionate with us,” Swenson said.

He plans to attend the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks and major in accounting.
