Eighth Grade Squad Proves Mettle

Lady Wolves Win Northeastern Division Tournament

The eighth-grade Lady Wolves girls’ basketball team beat the Scotties in Glasgow 48-28 Saturday, Nov. 23, to take the Northeastern Division Tournament championship trophy.

“These girls love basketball and they played well all season long,” said Payne. “They are athletes and always ready for competition.”

The Lady Wolves had an 8-2 season coming into the tournament, earning them a bye. Payne and the Lady Wolves then beat the Harlem Wildcats 42-19 to clinch a spot in the championship game.

Sierra Hamilton led the team throughout the tournament with 22 points. Adiea Erickson had 16 points. Cassidy Moccasin had four points and Juellz Bauer had two.

Superintendent Loverty Erickson elbowed in among parents clamoring for a team photo. She described the victory as, “A great win for Coach Payne and the Wolves.”
