After qualifying for the last two Eastern C divisional tournaments, Bainville’s boys’ basketball team is expecting additional success this season.

The Bulldogs have a turnout of 17 players for the sport.

“It’s a pretty good number,” Bainville Coach Shawn Romo said.

Bainville returns four starters including 6-5 senior Alex Strickland, senior Samuel Butikofer, senior Charles Butikofer and senior Reese Harmon.

Cayden Boyd, a senior, also saw a great amount of varsity playing action last season.

“We have a couple of juniors who should get a lot of playing time this year,” Romo said.

The Bulldogs’ roster features six seniors, three juniors, four sophomores and four freshmen.

Romo feels the team’s strengths will include experience and overall height.

“Height and speed will be good things for us,” Romo said.

The Bulldogs placed fourth at the 2022 divisional tournament. Bainville dropped two close games at the divisional tourney last season.

Romo feels favorites in the District 2C race will include Plentywood, Froid/Lake and Bainville.

“I think the top two or three teams will be competitive,” Romo said. “There are a few middle teams that are capable of moving up.”

The Bulldogs will open their season with games against Plevna and Turner at the Class C opening tournament in Glasgow on Friday, Dec. 1, and Saturday, Dec. 2.
