JOM To Pay For Wolf Point’s Activity Tickets
Members of Wolf Point’s JOM discussed paying for students’ activity tickets during a meeting on Monday, Oct. 2.
School officials and JOM members agreed that the payment will be for fifth- through 12th-grade JOM-eligible students because they are the ones involved in organized athletics. Athletic director Eric Peterson said that fifth-grade students are approved in Wolf Point to compete in wrestling and cross-country.
Because she knew that it was a possibility that JOM would pay for students’ activity tickets, student accounts secretary Arden DeWitt said she hasn’t deposited any of the checks this fall.
JOM member Imogene Lilley made the motion that JOM pay for activity tickets for fifth- through 12th-grade students. The motion passed unanimously. The cutoff date to take advantage of the JOM’s payment is Dec. 1.
JOM will also pay for one elective fee for JOM-eligible students.
The meeting featured an opportunity for each of Wolf Point’s schools to make requests.
Elementary principals mentioned the benefits of using incentives for attendance.
The meeting also featured discussion of conflicts when Native American Week and homecoming are held during the same week.
A special meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 11, on 5:30 p.m. in the high school library to discuss plans for National Native American Month that takes place in November.
