Lady Wolves Edge Fairview For Conference Victory


Wolf Point battled back to edge Fairview in a five-set home conference volleyball match on Saturday, Sept. 9.
The Wolves earned a 22-25, 25-21, 25-27, 25-9, 15-11 victory.
Wolf Point played well in the third set and a tip by Kashlyn Speak Thunder produced a 24-19 advantage.
Fairview, however, tied the match at 24-24. The Wolves went back ahead as a kill by Kaleah Miller-Toves put the score at 25-24. Fairview tallied the next three points, including a block and kill by Macy Tjelde, to take a 27-25 victory.
The Wolves responded by gaining a 5-1 lead in the fourth set on aces by Sierra Hamilton and a kill by Gabrielle Fourbear. The strong net play of Hamilton led Wolf Point to a 13-6 advantage.
Wolf Point’s hitting combination of Miller-Toves and Fourbear increased the gap to 21-7. The Wolves won the fourth set by a 25-9 final.
In the deciding set, the Wolves gained a 7-6 lead on a tip by Hamilton and a kill by Speak Thunder. Wolf Point increased the margin to 12-7 on a tip by Speak Thunder and an ace by Kylie Rodenberg.
After the Warriors battled back to 13-11, the Wolves ended the match on kills by Hamilton and Miller-Toves.
K. Rodenberg led the Wolves with 24 assists. Fourbear and K. Rodenberg served four aces each. Azalei Ackerman accounted for 38 digs.
Hamilton scored 12 kills. Speak Thunder had four blocks.
The Wolves will host league goes Poplar on Thursday, Sept. 14, and Malta on Saturday, Sept. 16.
