Cowgirls Earn Win Over Fusion

Culbertson’s volleyball squad came through with an exciting home victory over Richey/Lambert on Tuesday, Aug. 29.

The Cowgirls edged the Fusion by a final score of 2520, 16-25, 25-18, 22-25, 15-12.

Culbertson Coach Tiffany Nielsen said the Cowgirls really pushed until the end and finished strong. “We started really confident in the first game,” Nielsen said. “In the second game, we were down. I was proud of their perseverance though. They made a straight nine-point comeback to even the score to 16-23.”

The Cowgirls finished with 20 aces including six each by Ivy Colvin and Destiny Thompson. Leaders in assists were Ayden Ator with 20 and Colvin with 18.

Thompson finished with 19 kills and three blocks. Jazzin Fugere and Mariana Burciaga each had 10 kills.

Leaders in digs were Fugere with 22 and Leandra Perkins with 21.
