Stampede Auction Taking Shape
It’s an auction that comes around every 100 years.
In conjunction with the Wolf Point Stampede’s centennial, the “Saddle Up and Open Chutes For the 100th Wolf Point Wild Horse Stampede” auction is scheduled for May 5 at the Wolf Point Elks Event Center.
There is no charge to attend the event. Snacks will begin at 6 p.m., and the auction will start at 7 p.m.
Organizer Jerald Petersen said the “fun”-raiser will feature between 10 to 20 quality items including paintings.
“We’re lining up some great auction items,” Petersen said. “We have some great bucket prize items, too.”
Funds from the auction will be used to help pay for some of the fun activities on July 5-8.
He said some of the auction items will soon be displayed at downtown businesses.
Businesses and individuals are encouraged to start planning for their parade float now. Organizers are hopeful that this is the biggest parade in many years.
The Stampede festivities will start Wednesday, July 5, with a steak fondue at the Big Sky Corral and the Wild Horse Ranch Rodeo, followed by the Kyle Shobe and The Walk ‘Em Boys concert, located at the Marvin Brookman Stadium. The ranch rodeo will begin at 6 p.m. The meal is anticipated to be from 4-6 p.m.
Grand marshals selected for the Stampede are Clint and Arlyss Long, 40-year Wild Horse Stampede committee members who served as chairman and secretary for many years.
Other activities will include a carnival, re-enactors, inflatable games for children, Art in the Park, bed races, a horsemanship clinic and the Wolf Point 100 Club’s chairity and yard art auction.
