Lady Wolves Earn Win In Glendive
Wolf Point’s girls’ basketball squad took control in the fourth quarter for a 5138 victory in Glendive on Thursday, Jan. 12.
Ahead by a 34-30 margin entering the final period, the Wolves struck for the first four points of the fourth quarter on a basket by J’Elle Garfield off a pass from Katelyn MacDonald and a drive by Keeley Blount-Henderson.
The Red Devils closed the margin to 38-33 on a threepoint play by Jane Harrison with 4:48 remaining.
Wolf Point responded with the next six points. After Sierra Hamilton scored off a pass from KJ St. Marks, Garfield accounted for a fastbreak basket on an assist by Blount-Henderson. A long pass from Garfield resulted in a hoop by Hamilton for a 4433 advantage.
The Red Devils came as close as 44-38 when Mataya Tipton hit a free throw with 1:12 left, but Garfield tallied the next five points, including a basket after a steal by Kylie Rodenberg, for a 49-38 lead. Ali Corpon added a basket with 12 seconds remaining.
Hamilton and Garfield led the Wolves with 16 points each. Also scoring were St. Marks with nine on three three-pointers, Blount-Henderson with six and Corpon with two.
Leading Glendive were Harrison with eigght, Mallory Robinson with seven and Codi Nagle with seven points.
Wolf Point led 8-6 at the end of the first quarter and by a 20-17 half-time margin.
