FourStar Plays Positive Role At School


Wolf Point High School senior Kamea FourStar excels at most tasks that she takes on whether it’s in art, academics or simply helping others.
After school hours, she works at the hospital about 20-30 hours a week. There, she assists patients get re-routed to other facilities and she also take patients’ vitals.
“I like helping people and being there to take care of their needs,” FourStar said.
Because of the experience gained at the hospital, she now plans to study nursing at Montana State University in Bozeman.
At the school, she’s involved in National Honor Society and has been a member of the cross-country team.
The honor roll student is getting a head start with her college studies by taking five dual credit classes including stats and college composition. “It’s exciting,” she said.
Her favorites classes include college composition with Douglas Evans, anatomy and physiology with Leslie Larson and weightlifting with John Gardner.
“That’s my year-long sport, in a way,” FourStar said of weightlifting.
Her talent in art resulted in her earning first place in the Keep Montana Green Art Contest last fall. Her artwork was selected to be used in a statewide wildfire prevention campaign.
She also sold some of her paintings individually. She enjoys painting sceneries and likes putting Native details into her work.
FourStar credits art teacher Vivian Schultz for being an inspiration to her.
“She’s always encourages me to keep it up,” FourStar noted. “She’s always been positive for me.”
She grew up in Wolf Point and appreciates the community.
“I like that everybody knows everybody and we’re all close and family oriented,” FourStar said. “It’s a great community.”
