Poplar Prepares For Tennis Season

The Poplar Indians return three players from last year’s tennis season for this season’s campaign. Back for the Indians are Cayana Adams, Gracelyn Medicine Cloud and Madison Dehner.
Krissy Parker is the squad’s new coach.
“No one was going for it,” Parker said of why she took the position. “It’s brand new for me, I’m learning as I go. I didn’t want the program to go away.”
She has experience coaching many of the girls in softball.
She is thankful from the advice and suggestions from both former coach Aaron Snyder and Wolf Point coach Dan Horsmon.
The rest of the eight girls on the squad don’t have a great deal of experience playing the sport.
“They all have been part in different programs such as basketball or cheerleading,” Parker said.
The coach said preseason practices have been going well. Former player Macey Stump has been helping at practices.
“Once we were able to get to the courts in Wolf Point, they were able to figure it out,” Parker said. “We’re learning as we go. We’re off to a good start.”
The Indians will open their season against Wolf Point and Terry in Wolf Point on Friday, April 1.
“I hope that they learn how to play the game and have fun,” Parker said.
