Indians Knock Off Conrad, 77-45, At Tourney
The hot-shooting Poplar Indians cruised to a 77-45 victory over Conrad at the Northern B divisional boys’ basketball tournament in Glasgow on Friday, Feb. 25.
The Indians, who never trailed in the contest, jumped out to an 8-2 lead as Kaniel Ricker connected on two three-pointers and Dennis Red Eagle scored inside for Poplar.
Delray Lilley then fired in a three-pointer for an 11-2 advantage with 2:41 left in the opening quarter.
A three-pointer by Joe Bear and a 15-footer at the buzzer by Lilley helped the Indians earn an 18-6 lead at the end of the period.
Ahead by a 21-10 margin, Poplar really gained control with 12 straight points including two three-pointers by Bear and another long shot by Ricker.
After Conrad’s Teagen Arnold hit a three-pointer, Bear connected on consecutive three-pointers. A layup by Ricker increased the cushion to 40-13.
Poplar enjoyed a 42-20 halftime lead and then struck for 22 more points in the third quarter for a 64-34 advantage.
Bear finished the contest with 26 points. Ricker also reached double figures with 15 points.
Rounding out the scoring were Lilley with nine, Allen Russell with seven, William Youngman with six, Geordy Medicine Cloud with five, Preston Ogle with five, Walker Burshia with two and Red Eagle with two.
Leading Conrad were Devon Baney with 16 and Arnold with nine points.
