Poplar Wrestlers Earn Titles

Poplar’s wrestlers enjoyed a good amount of success during the CMR Holiday Classic held in Great Falls during the weekend.

In the girls’ tournament, Poplar’s Angelina Escarcega captured top honors at 103 pounds.

The freshman pinned Lewistown’s Rebecca Birdwell in 4:26 in the championship match. Escarcega earned a sudden victory over Glacier’s Brooke Yeadon in the semi-final round.

Precious Keiser earned first place at 145 pounds. She pinned Glacier’s Madisyn Frazier in 36 seconds in the title match. She won all four of her matches on pins.

Cayana Adams placed fifth in the heavyweight weight class.

McKenzie Smith won three of her five matches at 170 pounds.

In the boys’ division, heavyweight Jacob Berger earned fifth place. He defeated Whitehall’s Leo Scafani, 3-1, in the fifth-place match. Berger won his first two matches on pins before dropping a match in the quarter- final round. Navarjo Escarcega won three matches on pins at 113 pounds. Jase Frederick earned three victories by pins at 120 pounds.

Kameron Reum earned two wins on pins at 138 pounds.
