Frazer’s Girls Earn First Win Of Season


Frazer’s girls’ basketball squad earned its first victory of the season with a 31-22 win over Glasgow’s JVs during play in Wolf Point on Friday, Dec. 10.
A three-pointer by Audrey Smoker helped the Bearcubs take a 7-3 advantage in the first quarter.
The scoring of Isabelle Even and Angeline White led the way to a 13-5 lead. Frazer enjoyed a 13-9 half-time advantage.
A three-point shot and a three-point play by Smoker got the Bearcubs off to a strong start in the third quarter. A 14-footer by Bailey Beston increased the margin to 23-14. The Bearcubs held a 23-18 lead after three quarters of play.
The Bearcubs then accounted for the first seven points of the fourth quarter on free throws by Beston, a free throw by White and a hoop by Smoker for a 30-18 lead.
Smoker led Frazer with nine points. Also scoring were Even with six, Beston with five, White with three and Liana Jackson with one.
Despite a strong start, Frazer’s boys lost to Glasgow’s JVs by a 63-30 final.
Baskets by John Hotomanie and a three-pointer by Keein Ackerman put Frazer up 11-6 in the first quarter.
After Glasgow took a 13-11 lead, Hotomanie and Ackerman hit three-pointer for a 17-13 Frazer lead. The contest was deadlocked at 17-17 after the first period.
A three-pointer by Joseph Beston kept Frazer close at 21-20, but Glasgow accounted for 15 of the last 16 points of the half for a 36-21 advantage.
Glasgow gained a 49-22 lead in the third quarter until baskets by Hotomanie and Ty Fourstar cut the gap to 49-26. Glasgow held a 51-26 lead at the end of the third quarter.
