Nicholas Barrera, 71, died Aug. 6, 2021, in Billings.

Nicholas A. Barrera, known as the Burrito Man, was born on Jan. 3, 1950, in Phoenix, Ariz., to Virginia (Brings Three White Horses) Barrera and Jesus Barrera.

He attended school In Phoenix, Ariz., and graduated from Pan American University in Phoenix, Ariz. He then when on the pow-wow trail with his parents (The Taco Bus), he also worked in Alaska on shipping boats.

He then came to Wolf Point to work as a bouncer for Arlo’s Bar. That’s where he met Elaine Lilley. They were married on Aug. 4 in Wolf Point, and their 46-year journey began with raising their two granddaughters.

He had worked for the Fort Peck Tribes and was well known for his burritos; he would get calls as early as 6 a.m. just to make friends burritos.

He is survived by his wife, Elaine Barrera; children, Augustine Barrera of Anadarko, Okla., Nicole Barrera of Anadarko, Okla., and Orlando Barrera of Wolf Point; eight grandchildren; sisters, Mary Delacruz and Sylvia Barrera; and brother, Tony Barrera.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Mike, Jesus Jr., Pete and Phillip; and sister, Gloria.

A viewing was held Friday, Aug. 13, at the Wolf Point Community Hall. Cremation followed. Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel of Wolf Point was entrusted with the arrangements.
