Locals Charged In Ballantine Homicide
Another arrest has been made in connection to death of 53-year-old Carl Archer Jr., who was found in a room at the Tiger Town Motel in Ballantine. Yellowstone County Sheriff’s office deputies found Archer dead in the motel room at 3:30 a.m. Nov. 2, 2019.
China Rose Dawn Davis, 30, originally from Frazer, pleaded not guilty on Dec. 23 to deliberate homicide with a weapons enhancement. Davis is accused of helping plan a robbery that ended with Archer’s death, while James R. Eder, 32, of Poplar, is accused of firing the fatal shot.
At approximately 4:30 p.m. on Nov. 2, 2019, Eder was arrested at 7 Alderson Ave. in Billings by Sheriff’s Deputies and Billings Police Department officers. Yellowstone County Sheriff Mike Linder said in a press release that Eder cooperated by walking out of the house once a perimeter was established. Eder was booked into the Yellowstone County Detention Facility on a charge of felony deliberate homicide.
Charlie Wright Reimers, 29, has been charged with deliberate homicide by accountability, and also faces a weapons enhancement. Reimers is accused of driving Eder to the motel, waiting while he went inside, and then driving Eder away.
Court documents state that Davis admitted to meeting the victim in a motel room with another woman to get methamphetamines. Davis stated that while they were in the room, there was a knock on the door and Eder entered with a rifle raised.
Davis’ bail is set at $500,000. Her next court appearance has not been set.
