Lekvold Stays Busy In Scobey School Activities
Scobey High School senior Carter Lekvold keeps busy through sports, the National Honor Society, work and hobbies.
Lekvold has been a member of Scobey’s National Honor Society for two years where he now serves as a representative. One of the group’s projects is planning for the junior high snowflake dance.
As far as sports, he recently broke his own personal record in cross country with a time of 18:31. He has qualified for state in cross country for each of the past four years.
Qualifying for state is a goal that Lekvold has for next spring’s golf season. He has improved his game by 15 to 20 strokes since his freshman year.
“I would like to be part of the state team by being in the top four,” Lekvold said.
The senior has also been part of the school’s pep band where he plays the saxophone.
“It’s fun to go to state in basketball and watch both teams compete,” Lekvold said of his pep band experience.
Hobbies include bowling, playing pool and having card games with friends.
He also enjoys working for Handran’s Home Center where he has helped deliver furniture, install appliances and do flooring. He adds that flooring jobs have included schools in Scobey, Lustre and Opheim.
In the classroom, his favorite class is weight training with Pat Hardy.
“He pushes us and I feel like he’s getting us physically stronger,” Lekvold said.
After high school, he plans to attend MSU -Northern in Havre and study to earn his electrician license.
“I probably want to explore the world a little bit and work some,” Lekvold said.
