Scobey Defeats Lustre In Conference Match

The Scobey Spartans posted a straight set home volleyball victory over Lustre Christian on Saturday, Sept. 26. Scobey earned a 25-13, 25-15, 25-11, conference win.

Ahead by only a 15-12 margin in the first set, the Spartans ran off nine straight points including three on aces by Chloe Handran. Emery Rouse scored two kills during the streak.

After Lustre’s Natalie Fast scored a kill, the Spartans ended the set on a tip by Rouse.

The Lions stayed close early in the second set as a kill by Holly Hilkemann and an ace by Sidney Klatt closed Scobey’s lead to 9-7. A kill by N. Fast produced an 11-11 deadlock.

After the net play of Handran led Scobey to an 18-12 lead, Lustre’s Hilkemann put down a kill for an 18-13 game. A spike by Lauryn Holzrichter and an ace by Lauren Fast put the score at 19-15.

Scobey came through with the win in the set on two aces by Willa Fishell and two kills by Ava Stentoft.

The serving of Handran and powerful hitting of Rouse led Scobey to a 12-0 advantage in the third set.

With the score at 19-9, the Spartans added points on a spike by Chloe Johnson, an ace by Handran and a kill by Rouse. Scobey ended the match on two kills by Rouse and an ace by Halle Cromwell.

Scobey will host Frazer on Friday, Oct. 2, and play at a tournament in Lambert on Saturday, Oct. 3.

Lustre will host Richey/ Lambert on Thursday, Oct. 1.
