Red Hawks Drop Conference Game To Fusion
After a strong first-half performance, the Froid/Lake Red Hawks dropped their road football game against Richey/Lambert by a 66-45 final on Friday, Sept. 4.
The Red Hawks accounted for the game’s first touchdown on a four-yard dash by Carsen Aasheim with 8:03 left in the first quarter. After the Fusion scored on a 41yard run, Froid/Lake scored late in the opening quarter when Aasheim hit a wideopen Rylan Young for a 31yard touchdown pass to put the lead at 12-8.
The Red Hawks added to their lead when Talen Larsen forced a fumble. The ball was recovered by Eddie Orozco and the senior raced 21 yards for a touchdown and an 18-8 margin.
Richey/Lambert, however, gained a 20-18 lead on a 30yard fake punt run and a 62--yard dash.
The Red Hawks struck back when Young connected with Orozco on a 50-yard touchdown pass play with 6:52 left in the second quarter.
After the Fusion moved ahead 28-24, the Red Hawks drove deep inside Richey/ Lambert territory on a pass from Young to Carsen Kelm. A fourth-down scramble run by Aasheim resulted in a 21-yard touchdown. Aasheim, a freshman, kicked the conversion for a 32-28 advantage.
Richey/Lambert reached the end zone on an 18-yard pass in the final seconds of the half for a 34-32 lead at intermission.
The Fusion gained control with three touchdowns in the third quarter to gain a 5632 advantage.
The Red Hawks, 0-2 for the season, will host Plevna at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 12.
