Pastor Rex Green of Community Bible Church in Wolf Point gave the Bible Study time for this week’s junior high camp and was well received. There was 51 students attending. The theme was “Taters Over Haters” based on Ephesians 5:1 “Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children…” This week’s camp was directed by Justin Skillman, an alumnus of LCHS.

Neighbors and friends of Al Kliewer of Lustre attended the funeral of Dixie (Brandt) Shephard on Monday, June 22. See obituary in this issue.

The community returned to Glasgow Tuesday to pay respects to Marvin E. Pankratz (1950-2026), who grew up in Lustre. See obituary in this issue.

Summer brings opportunity to do special things, and one event we look forward to in Lustre is taking a break from farming to take in the Malta Jamboree. A good number of families from Lustre took the opportunity to hear music from Evergreen, Canada’s Double Portion (from Battleford, Sask.), Tim Lovelace (accomplished pianist and comedian from Alabama), Sherry Anne Ministries (from New York), Last Mountain Boys (men’s trio from Strassborg, Sask.) and Liberty Quartet (of Boise, Idaho). They were real good! Sherry Anne is hearing impaired, and signed the songs when the auditorium sang together for half a hour. She is expressive, drew one in and if someone who is deaf can sing like that, we have no excuse to not use the gifts God has granted us! She travels with her mother, and Sherry Anne has recorded at the Bill Gaither studios. Her music is available at SherryAnne.com. The Malta Jamboree brings musicians together who are starting out, writing music for their groups as well as those who, like the Liberty Quartet, have traveled for 30 years together. Double Portion is a family who sings bluegrass with stringed instruments. The pianist of Liberty Quartet, and Tim Lovelace did an impromptu revolving piano duet that made one wish they were sitting close enough to see their fingers.

My fellow Americans, I wish you a safe and family oriented fourth of July as our nation celebrates 250 years. Freedom is precious and the principles that make it possible are found in God’s Word.
