Area Athletes Earn Honors At Top 10

Track athletes from Wolf Point, Poplar and Lustre Christian placed at the 44th annual Norm Girard Top 10 track meet held in Sidney on Tuesday, May 5.

Poplar’s eighth-grader Mila Gramling kept her winning ways going by earning first place in the 3200-meter run with a time of 12:32.28.

Also placing for the Indians was Wilder Bearcub with a time of 44.23 seconds in the 300-meter hurdles for second-place honors. Lustre Christian’s senior Johnslee Pierre was a double- winner at the meet. Pierre earned top honors in the 400 with a school record time of 50.87 seconds. He captured first place in the triple jump with a mark of 45-10.

Lustre’s Jaycee Hilkemann finished second in the 1600 at 4:45.58.

The Lions’ 1600-meter relay team featuring Cam Reddig, Prestyn Klatt, Hilkemann and Pierre took second at 3:34.00.

Adalynn Smith led Wolf Point’s girls by placing second in the 400 with a time of 1:00.94.

Sean Hamilton earned fourth place in the discus with a mark of 136-4.

The District 2B track meet is scheduled for Saturday, May 16, in Fairview.
