Wolves, Indians Earn Success During Meet In Lambert
Wolf Point’s girls scored 36 points to capture fifth place in the team standings during the Richey/Lambert track invitational held in Lambert on Friday, April 10.
Richey/Lambert topped the girls’ standings with 74 points. Also ahead of the Lady Wolves were Glasgow with 55, Turner with 54 and Bainville with 38 points. Poplar placed 11th with 22 points.
Topping the boys’ division were Glasgow with 107, Lustre Christian with 83.5 points and Plentywood with 75 points. Wolf Point took 14th with seven points and Poplar was 19th with 4.5 points.
Addy Smith led Wolf Point’s girls with an outstanding meet. The speedy sophomore ran to first-place honors with a time of 1:01.46 in the 400-meter dash. Smith also placed fifth in the 100 with a time of 13.79 seconds. She was seventh in the long jump at 14-11.
Amya Martinez also enjoyed good success at the meet. The senior earned top honors in the discus with a mark of 97-9. She placed fourth in the shot put at 31-1.
Wolf Point’s girls’ 400-meter relay team featuring Anna Matejovsky, Smith, Harper Weeks and Navella Weeks finished third at 53.80 seconds.
The girls’ 1600-meter relay team consisting of Smith, H. Weeks, N. Weeks and Paisley Bruner took fifth at 4:44.62.
Teagan Williams cleared 6-6 for fifth place in the pole vault.
In the boys’ division, Wolf Point’s Damari Martinez cleared 5-6 for fourth place in the high jump. Kayden Charette cleared 5-4 for seventh place.
Sean Hamilton earned fifth place in the discus at 125-1 and sixth in the shot put at 40-2.
Poplar’s Mila Gramling highlighted action for the Indians with a time of 12:53.43 for first place in the 3200. In the 1600, Kellyn Azure placed third at 6:02.41 and Gramling was fourth at 6:05.75.
Azure earned fifth in the 800 at 2:48.25. Taking seventh were Lilliana O’Neal in the shot put and the 1600-meter relay team of Alara Cooper, Gramling, Azure and Liberty Boadle.
On the boys’ side, Wilder Bear Cub cleared 5-4 for fifth place in the high jump.
Issac Irizarry ran the 3200 in 10:53.67 for fifth place.
Raylando Red Eagle took sixth in the 1600 at 5:14.04.
Teams will compete in Fairview on Monday.
