Indians Drop Game Against Harlem

The Poplar Indians were outscored by Harlem, 85-54, in the semi-final round of the Northern B boys’ basketball divisional tournament on Friday, March 6.

The explosive Harlem squad jumped out to a 10-2 lead with Cody McCabe scoring five of those points.

After Poplar’s Ryder Olson accounted for three straight points to cut the margin to 12-7, a three-point play by Mc-Cabe and a hoop by Lathan Black Wolf put the score at 17-7.

Wilder Bearcub connected on a three-pointer for the Indians, but the Wildcats responded with the next six points. With the score at 2513, Harlem ended the quarter on a drive by Matt Billmayer and two free throws by Mc-Cabe for a 29-13 lead.

After Harlem stretched its advantage to 21 points, Olson tallied four straight points for Poplar. Harlem held a 48-28 half-time lead.

Ahead by a 56-36 margin midway into the third quarter, the Wildcats increased their lead to 61-36 on three points by Black Wolf and a drive by Billmayer. Three-pointers by Olson and Bearcub helped the Indians cut the margin to 68-48 at the end of the third quarter.

Harlem then outscored Poplar by a 17-6 margin in the fourth period.

Poplar’s top scorers were Chasen Pribbernow with 14 and Olson with 12 points.

Also scoring were Bearcub with eight, Dane Moran with seven, Xhaiden Bull Chief with five and Da’Shaun Red Eagle with three. Adding two points each were Bostyn Azure and Chance Pribbernow. Stepheh Smoker had a point.

Leading Harlem were Mc-Cabe with 23, Billmayer with 17, Black Wolf with 16 and Tayden Colliflower with 14 points.
